Congratulations to City’s long-term partner Asda, who have been named the ‘safest place for people to shop’ during Covid-19, according to an independent analysis by trade magazine the Grocer.

The Grocer said that Asda ‘led the pack’ for implementing safety measures and scored them 100% for applying one-way systems, the use of checkout screens, and maintaining social distancing at the tills. Asda was the only big four supermarket to record a 100% score in these categories.

Our partnership with Asda

While Asda rightfully receive the plaudits for their initiatives, the efforts of our teams across the country were critical in setting up and maintaining many of the measures taken to keep customers and colleagues safe every day.

Our teams were heavily involved in putting in place all internal directional and no entry decals, social distancing messages, internal and external queue management systems, as well as supporting the installation of sneeze screens, and the positioning and setting up of hand sanitising stations across all stores.

This was done at no extra cost to Asda, as part of the added value which is at the heart of how the unique partnership contract works.

David O’Byrne, Operations Director for CFM(UK), said:

“We are incredibly proud to be part of a partnership where the safety of colleagues and customers is truly at the heart of everything we do.

Our teams have worked tirelessly together over the last four months to help support the delivery of vital services across the UK, in a bid to feed the nation throughout one of the most challenging times in UK history.

Thank you to each of our colleagues who have helped to make Asda ‘the safest place to shop’. We are proud of you.”
