Best in class cleaning

A leading UK supermarket retailer turned to City to challenge the established cleaning model delivered by 7,000 of their cleaning colleagues.

The pre-existing cleaning processes involved a myriad of chemicals and materials that were both costly and not necessarily optimised to deliver the best results for the business. Through a series of focused trials, City engineered a process designed to remove the unnecessary chemicals and consumables, which proved to be the majority. Using the insight generated, ‘Microfibre cleaning’ was instituted as a unique innovation which challenged the status quo.
Collaborating with trusted partners Electrolux and Vikan, the fastest and most successful roll out of this national cleaning model was implemented across the UK, in all 370 of the retailer’s superstores, in a 3 month period during 2015. They became the first UK retailer to implement Microfibre cleaning across all of its Superstores.

Pioneering in its industry and supported by a ‘best in class’ cleaning process, this innovative cleaning model has saved the customer £1.8m per annum in service delivery costs whilst also improving the standard of cleaning delivered across all Superstore locations. We are proud that Microfibre Cleaning is now a well-established way of working.
